Description

This Mumei sword was made during the late Edo shogunate era and is a typical Shogunate piece with shallow curvature. Although there are very tiny flaws, the blade’s overall condition is good. The surface is slightly cloudy which can be more suitable for test-cutting off straw and bamboo. The weight without Saya is around 1,100 grams which is very good for Iaido and Batto. The Saya is lacquered in vermillion with a luxurious Kizami engraving type. Habaki is made of copper with Inome(lit. eye of boar), which is a symbol of the protection against the fire. Tsuba and Fuchi/Kashira are original fittings as it was at the end of the late Tokugawa period. It is a recommended sword for those who want to try out with a real Japanese sword.
