Upon looking at this blade, one can immediately appreciate the excellent forging of the blade. The Hamon is Gunome Choji with beautiful round arches along the whole blade. The Sori is shallow and balanced. The most exciting feature of this sword is the impressive engraving on the blade. On one side it has a Bonji and Suken(素剣) engraving. On the other, Kenmakiryu(剣巻龍), a dragon with a sword. This sword was engraved by a well known metal engraver and was kept in his family. The Shirasaya is decorated with the family crest Kamon, a pair of crossed arrows.
