Tozando Shogoin Store is located in Okazaki, Kyoto, a historic area known for its many famous temples that attract numerous foreign tourists.

At our store, we warmly welcome visitors from around the world, offering “omotenashi” hospitality with English-speaking staff to help share a piece of Japan’s traditional culture.

Aired on May 23, 2008 Asahi Broadcasting “MOVE!”

Jeff Burklund visited Kyoto-based designer Jeffrey Moussas and discussed traditional Japanese machiya architecture. During the program, the Tozando Shogoin Store was introduced as one of Moussas’ most accomplished renovation projects.

Aired on December 8, 2015 Asahi Broadcasting “Gobu Gobu”

In this episode, Masatoshi Hamada visited the Tozando Shogoin Store to find a birthday gift for Atsushi Tamura, who is passionate about history. The store showcased a variety of items, including antique Japanese swords (shinken), replica samurai armor, and collaboration swords with Toei Animation, such as those from One Piece. The two hosts were thrilled by the fascinating collection on display.

Tozando Shogoin Store was featured in the segment “Extremely Popular Among Foreign Visitors! An Unexpected Kyoto Tour Experience.” The store attracted international guests who were not only interested in sightseeing but also eager to learn about the deeper aspects of Japanese culture, including the spirit of Bushidō and traditional martial arts.

In the popular segment “Icchan Takai Mon HOW MUCH!?,” the comedy duo Super Maradona visited the Tozando Shogoin Store to showcase iaitō (training swords) and tosogu (sword fittings). Among the items featured, the most expensive piece was an antique sword from the late Heian period, which left Super Maradona and the studio audience in awe at its remarkable price.
